Doula
Services
What Does a Doula Do?
A birth doula or labor doula is a person who supports the birthing family before, during, and just after the birth of the baby. DONA certified doulas are trained to deliver emotional support at home, from home to hospital, to ease the transition into the hospital environment, and be there through changing hospital shifts and alternating provider schedules. The doula serves as an advocate, labor coach, and information source to give the birthing person and partner the added comfort of additional support throughout the entire labor. There are a variety of titles used by people offering these kinds of services such as “birth assistant,” “labor support specialist” and “doula”. My goal is to support your decisions as we work towards your ideal birth. I work with the birthing person and partner in the supporting role that they desire, from simply offering the partner/coach advice from the sidelines to providing full support throughout the birth.
A postpartum doula does not attend the birth but is a scheduled visit after the baby is born. Postpartum doulas may assist with mother and newborn care, feeding, light housework, meal preparation, and sibling care.
Birth Doula Services
I’m on call from 2 weeks before your due date until the baby is born. I will stay with the family from active labor until 1-2 hours after the birth. My role varies depending on the needs of the birthing family, from simple back up and advisor for the partner to full coaching and birth support. Birth doula services are $800.
