I’m Terri
Childbirth Educator and Birth Doula
My name is Terri McGiboney. I am a DONA certified birth doula and certified Lamaze childbirth educator. After the birth of my first child, I became a certified childbirth educator. Within a year, I attended my first birth as a doula and became certified as a birth or labor doula through CAPPA. Since then, I have attended over 300 births, both at home and at the hospital. My own three children were natural births at a hospital. All of my children were breastfed and had the honor of speaking at the La Leche League of Georgia Conference. My goal is to provide support and knowledge of the birthing process that will allow both the mother and partner to feel secure and relaxed throughout the birthing process. I live in Conyers, Georgia and attend births throughout the Atlanta area. I would love to meet you and help you along the road to the birth you desire!
The Role of the Birth Doula
is to support the birthing family in a way that is customized for their desired birth experience. Whether you want a home birth or hospital birth, a natural birth or planned medicated birth, an experienced labor doula can help. Doulas provide the reassurance, coping methods, and knowledge you need to make birth more comfortable and less stressful for the birthing person and partner as well. In a hospital setting, the doula also serves as an advocate for the laboring family, both as a resource and as an intermediary with the medical staff. The presence of a doula has been shown to result in better birth outcomes for both the parent and baby.
